Given
the strategic proximity of the state of Florida to many Latin American countries
and the complex demographic reconfiguration the state has undergone through
several migratory flows, our colloquium intends to enhance the understanding
of the historical and cultural relations between Latin America, Spain, and
the United States.
The Spanish graduate students of the Department of Romance Languages and Literatures at the University of Florida invite you to participate in this Interdisciplinary Colloquium that will explore notions of language, discourse and nation as well as culture in an increasingly globalized world.
The conference welcomes papers in the fields of Latin American, Peninsular, and Chicano Language, Literature, Linguistics and/or Cultures.
Keynote Speakers:
Dr. Hugo Achugar (Literature, University of Miami)
Dr. David Pharies (Linguistics, University of Florida)
Dr. Ana María Bidegain (Florida International University)
